Game 2, Patriots and 3 on 3 hockey...

Well the 2nd game curse continues but here's hoping Game 3 back home will be loud. At least our time keepers know how to operate the very difficult ON/OFF button.

Many of you heard my wife call in last week and give me permission to go on that sports road trip, and while we all knew it was a trap by my clever wife she actually surprised me this weekend. She left me alone and free of household "chores" so I could watch baseball, Nascar, Golf, Basketball, and Hockey (all in HD).

You see, I'm not as stupid as I look. I've never been to an NFL game and really want to see my New England Patriots this fall, possibly combined with an afternoon at Fenway Paaaaaark. I've been to a Sox game and from what I remembered it was a blast, despite being loaded on 4 Sam Adams. Yes (4 American beers) I'm a lightweight when it comes to the Pints.

So by not going on the road trip I save up my "wife" points for a weekend this fall, one where I can introduce myself as being from Ottawa....

Home of the defending Stanley Cup champions.

Now, for those of you who can't get enough hockey and want to support a great cause read below:

Be Red and skip work...

Today the Senators hosted another car rally, and if there's one thing I've learned about this city is that sometimes things take a while to get off the ground, but when they do....lookout! 40 cars left Scotiabank Place this morning and arrived in the market at noon for a street hockey game.

It's obvious the Mayor is a Sens fan (much like the last guy) and helped us close the street.

As for the series I'm picking Sens in 7, not because I don't think the boys are good enough to do it sooner but they are facing a money goalie who thrives and succeeds on pressure. Look for Ray Emery to stand on his head, Redden to bounce back and Spezza/Heatley to score plenty of highlight goals. If the Sens beat the Devils they will win the Stanley Cup.

Here's some pics from today's rally...and thanks to all who took part.

Hoping to add some devils to this float...

Just wait until the rental car company sees what these guys did to win tickets...

Peanuts, popcorn.....

Took my son to his first Lynx game today and with temperatures in the low 20's, it was a perfect afternoon for a ballgame. Granted, a 14 month old doesn't appreciate the game much as the older kids, but I wanted him to get in the sights and sounds while it's still here. My son got to meet Scratch, the trash monster and even got a high five from the Philly Fanatic, which doesn't sound like much but the expression on his face was pretty cool. I'm hoping some filthy rich owner who loves baseball and can afford to lose a few million a season will come in at the eleventh hour and save this team.

Great view, no matter where you sit...

No, that's not a photoshopped crowd at a Lynx game...3000 on hand today..

The view of the action the way my son watched it...

Sens win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sens beat the Penguins 3-0, taking the series in 5 games and now head to round 2. If the rumors are true that "Jack Martin" wanted to stick it to the his old club by not sending Roberts to us, well on behalf of Sens fans, Un gros merci mon ami!
Here's some pix from game 5...

And his buddy, who by all accounts did a great job making the Penguins crazy all night!

Inside CBC's booth during intermission, that's Greg Millen...Bob Cole was down the hall mumbling "Surely, that's gotta be it!!"

TGOR's Steve Warne taking a break....Yes, that's Angry Al next to him eating his 8th bag of popcorn.

The form that all must sign in order to appear on this blog, thanks to the law firm of Doowee, Cheetem and Howe.

The Penguins gear being loaded onto the truck for the last time. Goodnight Sidney, Goodnight Roberts, we'll see you in the fall.

Bad sports show and a Monster named Kulka...

Got the opportunity on Monday to join the Big Bad Sports Show on Rogers Television and took some photos during the show, much to the joy of host Tony House. I pretty much guaranteed to never get invited back. Also, below photos of the "Kulkster" from my Wed morning beating during the email segment. Who knew if you made fun of a former professional wrestler they get mad. Kulka owes me $80 for the shirt he ripped, which I plan to take from him if he doesn't pay up. If you're a former wrestler and would like to help, please email me. Be Red tonight at the game and I'll probably take your photo and put it up here tomorrow.

Tony doing the intro...about to smack me. Daytime's Derek Faige finding something on the back of Tony's chair more interesting the opening of the show.

Ottawa Lynx GM Kyle Bostwick. One day when he's in the big leagues, I plan to send this to ESPN and Sports Illustrated.

All this time I thought Tony did it all off the top of his head...what's next, news about the Easter Bunny?

Reason why the show was fun......Vodka.

TGOR'S WEDNESDAY MORNING BEAT DOWN FROM THE KULKSTER TO THE STUNTMAN

Trust me, it's a good that this photo is out of focus....this was taken just after Kulka ripped the shirt off.

This is "the Kulkster"...yah you'd be scared too!

License and registration please...

On my drive into work this morning I got pulled over for speeding. Apparently I had confused my current vehicle with a Ferarri F430 and am now stuck paying a $330 ticket. Was I called out for it this morning by TGOR nation? Oh...yeah, and for good reason.

When the cop pulled me over he asked "have you been pulled over for speeding in the last 2 years?", to which I said "...yup..."

I figured, no point in lying because he's going to find out in a matter of seconds on his laptop if was telling the truth or not. They can tell you what you got on your grade 2 math test with those things.

Most of us have been guilty of the lead foot at some point, whether it's hovering around 120 on the Queensway, or flying down a busy street, speeding is wrong and it took a hefty fine and another "talk" from the wife on how dumb it is.

The next time I fly down the road, it will be in a Ferrari...on a closed track.

Oh and FYI: It's seat belt enforcement month...so buckle up.

Here we go...

A few hundred Ottawan's woke up a little sore this morning after falling off the bandwagon following yesterday's loss. I was expecting JR to host the post game show and pull another all nighter after some of the calls that came in. Geez, let's relax a little and hope for a better effort from the Sens in game 3 tonight in Pittsburgh.

FYI - We'll have tickets to win to game 5 on Thursday...

Here's some random shots from game 2.

The view from the stage just prior to giving away tickets behind the Penguins bench...(thx to Molson)

One of the perks of sitting in the pressbox is the unlimited supply of popcorn. The one on the left is for the visiting reporters.

This was taken just before Angry Al showed up.

The pressbox fountain machine.

NHL rules state that no alcoholic beverages are to be served in the pressbox, but if you hit the "Soda" and "Water" at the same time and tap the machine twice....

These are notes for the media.

One of these days I plan to read them.

Sid, morning stretch and fore....!

I'm not going to devote anymore of my Friday to the article in today's Citizen about booing Sid the Kid. We received a week's worth of emails and since Steve already wrote about it on his blog, the issue over.

At least until puck drop tomorrow.

Something happened during Wednesday night's 6-3 win. The Sens opened the 2007 playoffs with one of the strongest home games to date and Ottawa fans who are long known for being too conservative, not only gave it to Fleury all night but let #87 have it as well. Home ice advantage can be a monster for opposing teams if done right. Here's to the almost 20 thousand tomorrow afternoon who will no doubt be good and ready to get behind their team once again.

Oh, and on behalf of TGOR please accept our apology for Lou's morning stretch on today's show. Our producer Kenny let one slip through the cracks and has promised it will never happen again. Be warned though, there's a good chance it will make Monday's Plays of the Week which airs at the end of every hour.

On another note, for those of you who were wondering what Darcy Tucker and Mats Sundin have been up to since last Sunday:

Noise, Bruit...and this is Shooters tour!

As the Senators get ready for the playoffs I'm offering a challenge to patrons of Scotiabank Place. All season long we had Leafs, Habs, Oilers and Canucks fans drown out the locals to the point where it's an embarrassment. While the Senators are entering their 10th playoff run in a series with the Penguins, I realize that lots of kids these days cheer for Crosby and the hometeam, but I'm looking at the big picture. It's time for Ottawa to shed it's reputation that watching hockey at the Bank is on par (excuse the pun) with a golf game. I'm not suggesting that you go ballistick every time we touch the puck, but you know what I mean right?

Now, speaking of golf which as I write this I hope the Leafs will be doing by Sunday, I think it's safe to say that most Team 1200 listeners have seen Happy Gilmore. With that said, you'll really enjoy this:

Please enter your wash code now...

After a season of complaints from Sens fans who shelled out 10 bucks for pay per view, I'd like to take a page out of those rants and ask gas station owners if they actually use soap in their automated car washes. After paying almost $11 for the "Ultimate, super, wow, holy crap its so good for your car" wash, I lost 27 minutes of my life waiting in a lineup 7 deep for this minor miracle.

When I finally got through the whole experience I looked at the car and to my shock, it was still dirty and I felt the need to complain. But to who? Write a letter to the big gas company? The response would be right out of "Public Relations 101....thank you for your recent purchase with our company and while we pride ourselves on the highest quality of customer service...blah blah blah".

Unlike Sens PPV, these car washes have been around forever and if the one's with the brushes scratch your car and the high pressure washes barely do the job, where's a dirty car supposed to go? From now on, I'll spend the extra twoonie and go to those places where they actually wash your car with soap and a rag.

I could have save a few bucks and gone to this place, but passed:
