50 movies in less the 4 minutes...

The older I get, the shorter my attention span is. In case you don't have time this holiday season to watch over 50 action films, some very creative guy put this together. It's the trailer to end all trailers...

Gotta light?

The Olympic Torch is coming through Ottawa this weekend...Congrats to all the lucky runners including Dion Metcalfe. What an opportunity to have! I'm going to crop him out from this photo in 30 years and tell my grandkids that I ran with the flame.

Merry Christmas, the S........was full!

This is my favorite time of year thanks to this classic. How Chevy Chase didn't win an Oscar for his performance I'll never know. Enjoy, it's 2 minutes down memory lane...

Got my green bin!

Since the city of Ottawa decided that we needed a green bin and since we're on the hook for it, I wondered how many beers could fit inside it.

48 beers, and 2 bags of ice.

It will also hold several bags of salt for your driveway in the winter and 228 hockey pucks.

(ok, the pucks was a guess...)

Have fun with yours.

Behind the scenes "Pressbox" Scotiabank Place

Lansdowne Live gets approval....

After last night's decision, Roger Greenberg walked over to city manager Kent Kirkpatrick, who told him, “the hard work begins.”

No kidding.

It's like planning a wedding...a big wedding. Getting approval from your future father-in-law to marry his daughter is the easy part. Now you get to plan every little detail from what kind of tablecloths to have at dinner to what song you and your bride should dance to. Then there's the politics of who sits with who and how long your going to keep the open bar going. You get to a point during the process where you start pulling out your hair and wonder if the event will ever take place.

Regardless of where you stand on the issue, at least something is finally being done with, as Ward 2 councillor Rainer Bloess referred to as Lansdowne Dump. Hopefully when the construction is done, we can all sit back enjoy a football game and cheer for whatever team hits the field.

I'll even buy Clive Doucette a beer.

Funny diaper ad...

If you've had kids and your wife sends you to the store for diapers, you know that if you come home with the wrong one you'll never hear the end of it. I've had 2 kids and can't tell you the difference between any of them. One promises to keep them dry while the other promises that they'll grow up to be brain surgeons. Full marks to this company for thinking outside the box and coming up with a memorable TV diaper ad.

ON the bottle...for a good cause

A while back I wanted to start my own charity golf tournament...but there's enough of them in Ottawa right now. Then I figured, what about a gala dinner with a live auction...but there's plenty of those as well.

Then one night this summer, sitting on my patio enjoying some red wine the idea hit me. Let's do a bottle of wine and raise money for charity.

With that I'm proud to present:

"Stuntman Stu Red Line Merlot" by Huff Estates.

$2 from every bottle goes to the Sens Foundation. This not for profit idea has some local companies that have jumped on board to help make it a success and all the details are here

You can sample it for the first time this weekend at the wine and food show and order online (click on the label) on the left side of my blog.

I will also update the blog and let you know which Ottawa restaurants will be carrying the wine as well.

Halloween...Bob fm style

Some quick snapshots from Bob fm's "Trip or Treat" with Transat Holidays and Tripcentral.ca, last night at Fat Tuesday's in the Market...

Yours truly on the left dressed as Doc Brown from Back to the Future...Bob fm evening host Vinnie White on the right as a pirate.

The guy who has to put up with Sandy and I every morning, that's Hamer on the right as Captain America.

Sandy, who couldn't find a pogo costume at Party Packagers decided to go as a condiment instead and chose a mustard bottle.

Apologies to all in attendance last night for repeating "1,21 gigawatts" all night.

Have a fun and safe Halloween...
More pix on the Bob fm facebook page and thanks to Milky for taking the pix.

Pumpkin meets Facebook for charity...

UPDATE - We came in 6th!!!!! Thank you.

The 14th annual celebrity pumpkin carving contest for Children at Risk goes this weekend.

Local media, sports stars and politicians will have their pumpkins displayed at area malls and you're encouraged to donate for your favorite. Since I've been accused of spending more time with Facebook then with my family, the idea was born. You'll find the Stuntman and the Shark entry at Merivale Mall today through Sunday and we're offering...(ok, bribing you) with a pair of Sens tix.

Children at Risk helps kids with Autism, and your help with this fun event is appreciated.

Yes, that's Mike Fisher on the bottom. He's with Carrie Underwood, but we let Sandy think he's into her too!

Aunt Jemima wants a word with me...

In our house we try to make as much from scratch as possible. The kids want french fries, we cut the potatoes and bake them. They want cookies, we bake them. Hamburgers on the BBQ? I make them (and they're pretty good...).

So I surprised my fellow Facebookers when I posted this in my kitchen. It's batter in a can and once your pan is hot, presto! instant pancakes. Some of the best comments I received:

Melanie said
"To say you don't have 10 minutes to whip up some batter is a sad statement on life."

Will said
"Stu, really? Is it that hard to do water and flour?"

Bill said
"Aerosol pancakes - what will they think of next?

It wasn't that bad. Once it's done I'll probably go back to the old way because somethings just can't be replaced.

Move over Brad Pitt...

My 3 year old went shopping and wanted to buy me a present. He chose this gem and was very excited when I took it out of the bag. It does nothing to help my status as a cool dad, but my wife was quick to remind me that I lost that a long time ago.

I'll save this for when I have to shovel the snow.
